The Griffith Park Trail Marathon Relay offers an intermediate to challenging course that keeps runners on their toes. Starting and finishing at the Lower Old Zoo by Merry Go Round parking lot 2, the route flows through the Old Zoo loop before climbing onto Bill Eckert Trail. Along the way, runners tackle a mix of dirt fire roads and stretches of asphalt road, creating both variety and excitement.
To keep athletes fueled and safe, the course features two well-supported aid stations at mile 1.75 and mile 3.85. Each station is fully staffed and stocked with water, electrolyte drinks, and snacks —so runners can stay energized and reassured throughout the race.
Each relay runner covers approximately 5.45 miles, combining for a total team distance of 26.25 miles across five runners. Meanwhile, those opting for the 8K course enjoy a single scenic loop that captures the essence of Griffith Park’s trails in one unforgettable run.
